LLCC athletes react to sports cancellations

On March 13th the NJCAA suspended all spring sports and on the 16th they officially ended all spring sports competitions for the 2020 seasons due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Officially ending Lincoln Lands baseball and softball seasons. Graham Bender a sophomore infielder at Lincoln Land on his reaction to finding out the season had been canceled “It was very disappointing to all of us that the NJCAA decided to cancel our season but with everything going on we know that they really had no choice.”

The NJCAA is giving all spring athletes an extra year of eligibility and on his future plans after this season Bender said, “I was glad that the NJCAA did the right thing by giving sophomores and freshman an extra year of eligibility. It would be unfair to everyone who worked so hard to have their college careers ended by something out of their control.

He continues, “That being said though, I won’t be coming back to LLCC next fall and I will be moving on from LLCC but I’m happy for my teammates and wish them nothing but success.”
