SPRINGFIELD — Danville Area Community College has three players over 6 feet tall. It showed.
Molly Bridges, Brittany Austin and Brianna Jones had five of the team’s seven blocked shots in the game. Bridges and Austin had two each. Jones finished with one.
Lincoln Land was defeated, 68-50, on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, in Cass Gym by Danville.
“That was probably one of our best games this season as far as blocks goes,” said Matt Vavro, the head coach of Danville.
The Jaguars also forced 23 turnovers.
Sophomore guards Kelsey Forsythe and Hannah Hergenrother led the Loggers with 11 points each.
Asia Green scored a game-high 14 points for Danville.
“They (the Jaguars) were just making everything,” said Sydney Jarrard, the Loggers’ only 6-foot-player.
Danville shot 38.7 percent in the game. Lincoln Land shot 22.5 percent.
“We need to get better at shooting in order to be competitive, ”said LLCC head coach Gary Albert.
Danville went on a 20-9 run to start the second half, giving the 17-5 team a 21-point lead. The Loggers were down by 10 (30-20) at the half.
LLCC moves to 9-11 in the season and 1-1 Midwest Athletic Conference.
Danville is now 17-5 and 2-0 in conference play.
Lincoln Land’s plays at home against Lewis and Clark Community College on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m.
