Barry Lamb’s ‘The Silence of the Yams’ won first place for representing ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ in the Edible Books Contest during National Library Week.
The creation includes a yam trapped in the center of an angel food cake, while the yam, representing Hannibal Lecter wears, a slice of Swiss cheese as a suit of skin.
It also included a prison scene atop a sweet potato pie.
Becky Parton’s ‘Vanity Pear,’ an adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray’s novel, ‘Vanity Fair.’
Amanda Wiesenhofer’s ‘Fatty Lumpkin’ won second place. It comes from J.R.R.Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of the Rings.’
