Earth Day is something that everyone should take part in. Planting a tree, cleaning up local neighborhoods and even getting the government involved. Even pushing them on the environmental laws to get them passed.
In the 1970’s the movement was started by John Mc Connell to have Earth day. I wonder if he ever thought that it would explode to what it is today. Now starting it’s 46th year.
The Earth Day Network has pledged that they will plant a tree for every single person on Earth, which is 7.8 billion trees.
On April 22, 2016 President Barak Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping will both be signing a agreement called “The Paris Climate Agreement”. Which will make it one of the this year’s most important days in history. And they will be signing the agreement at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
Let’s get the emissions down and ride with someone to work. Or even walk or ride a bike if you can. We only have one Earth and if it’s not taken care of the future is bleak.
There are several reasons why people get scared. There are vanishing rain forests, bleached out coral, melting ice sheets, intensifying the heat waves, falling temperatures. Along with the drastic count of elephants that are dying. And one that we don’t think about at all. In China children can’t even tell you that the sky color is blue. With all the smog in China alone children and adults alike wear masks to protect themselves, from breathing in that smog. With such a bad and serious thing a lot of people just live their lives and don’t think about the outcome.
Today there is more than 155 countries planning on signing the landmark U.N. agreement on helping to protect the Earth and it’s climate change and help fight the pollution. That alone is a huge turning point in our history.Coal and gas which is a clean energy, was invested twice as much last year. The popularity of using electric cars is starting to get more popular, and we’re seeing them a lot more on the roads. Solar power energy is getting so much cheaper….it’s time to invest in that too.China is finally stepping up and starting to clean up the smog that is killing so many people over there and they don’t even know that that’s what they are dying from.
Go when you get a minute or two to take a break today, go outside and breath in some fresh air and think about how much better it would be if we more trees to produce more oxygen for us to breath.
Earth day is about awareness for our planet. If we don’t start thinking about our actions there won’t be an Earth to worry about.
Plant a tree today, because not all trees just have leaves.
