SPRINGFIELD — The Student Life Office at Lincoln Land Community College is sponsoring a Volunteer Fair and blood drive Wednesday, Jan. 21.
The Volunteer Fair is being held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
More than 20 non-profit organizations will be present to discuss their volunteer needs.
The free events are open to the public and are being held at LLCC-Springfield, 5250 Shepherd Road.
In addition to the fair, the Central Illinois Community Blood Center is holding a blood drive in the Student Union in Menard Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those with questions may contact Amber Berman at [email protected] or 217-786-2241.
To help expand LLCC’s service learning programs, faculty, staff and students have the opportunity to sign “Pledge to Serve” cards in which they can promise to serve their community for as many hours as they choose.
Last year, more than 2,300 hours were pledged. This year’s pledge goal is 5,000 hours. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 students who pledge to serve.
