Do you like sushi? What about ramen? Have you ever had instant ramen? Do you like it in the squares, or maybe even in the cup?
Well, if you do, I have something even better for you. Happy Sushi is a Japanese restaurant at 846 S. Grand Ave. East in Springfield.
Its hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Happy Sushi has several choices of appetizers, as well as a variety of main dishes, including teriyaki, gyoza, katsu (cutlets) tempura, fried rice and udons.
So, what does Happy Sushi have to do with ramen? Well, they make authentic ramen there, and it is delicious. There are several options for the ramen, which include normal, mild or spicy broth, with or without vegetables. Diners can include chicken, beef, egg or any combination of the three in it.
This amazing bowl of ramen is not only great tasting, but it’s affordable too, at about $7 to $10 per bowl.
In terms of serving size, diners won’t be disappointed. I leave full every time and so do my dining companions.
It gets better though, as the name suggests, Happy Sushi also sells a variety of sushi/sashimi.
Not only does the sushi taste incredible, but the plating is beautiful.
Happy Sushi has options for vegetable-only rolls, the standard rolls that most places provide and then its special rolls.
The staff is also welcoming. I am always greeted by the owner as soon as I walk in the door, and then the servers who are always friendly will offer recommendations if asked.
For anyone considering a visit, I would recommend a bowl of ramen, paired with either a 10.10 or a Mexican Crunch roll.
The 10.10 roll is my favorite, which costs $10.10, and is made with cream cheese, spicy crab and shrimp tempura deep fried.
I think my favorite part of eating at Happy Sushi is the atmosphere. Among the great service, great food and friendly staff, there is also just a feel about the place. Every time I go, which is frequently, it just seems like everyone is content and in a good mood.
If looking for an affordable place with a welcoming feel that leaves one full and satisfied, I definitely recommend trying Happy Sushi.
