This small department located in the basement of one of the most well-known newspapers in the U.S. stunned their city and the world when they ran this story.
As I was sitting down to watch the movie “Spotlight” I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. The story which is based on true events of a cover-up of sexual abuse within the archdiocese.
The cover-up opens up a can of worms that brings their 80 victims forward and exposes the Roman Catholic Church.
The movie does an excellent job telling how the lawyers and everyone involved with the cover-up kept these stories quiet for so long.
Interviewing and digging up whoever and whatever evidence they could to bring these abusers to justice.
Staring big named actors/actresses: Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, and Stanley Tucci.
The stars in this movie do an outstanding job and deserve any award they should get. This movie is filled with calm but intense drama that brings the archdiocese down. And keeps us as the viewer watching and wanting more.
And to make things even better for the cast of “Spotlight” Michael Keaton just received one of France’s highest honors for his part in the movie. “Officer of the order of Arts and Letters” Which is for recognition of significant contributions to the arts, literature, or the propagation of these fields.
Rating this movie, I would give it a 10. It was so worth the 2 hours and 8 minutes.
