SPINGFIELD- My friend invited me to see the movie In the Heart of the Sea which is a drama film/ thriller/ biography which is 2 hours and 2 minutes long and was released Dec 11, 2015 starring Chris Hemsworth who plays Thor in the Avengers, Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins), and Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). We take our seats in the middle section with my large diet cherry vanilla coke and cookie dough bites and watch the previews while waiting for the movie to start. The movie is taken place around the 1820s and is based on the novel Moby Dick.
I haven’t read the novel but from just learning and hearing about the novel I know what it is mainly about. The movie starts off with Chris Hemsworth character Owen Chase and his wife getting ready for him to set sail on the New England vessel Essex and then we meet an older man who is telling author Herman Melville about his experience with the crews men and ship and the famous Whale. He goes back to his teenage boy years while on the ship through that time period. The characters go through terrible thunderstorms, starvation, and panic. They must think of way to either capture the whale or find a way to get away from it. The events that have been going around makes Melville want to write the tale of what happened those long days and months at sea, trying to survive and make it back home safe and alive.
The movie is very good and I would recommend everyone seeing it. It will bring out every emotion in your body. It gets really detailed with everything and makes you feel like you are there experiencing it as well. In the Heart of the Sea was amazing and just a very good film.
