SPRINGFIELD – There has been a lot of activity on the campaign trail, with many new endorsements and new delegates.
As it currently stands, it is estimated that Trump has about 646, Cruz has 397, Rubio has claimed 152, although he has since dropped out of the race, and Kasich is hovering around 142. In order for a Republican candidate to earn the party’s endorsement, they need to win at least 1,237 delegates total.
On the Democratic side, Clinton is estimated to have earned 1,599 delegates, while Sanders has about 844. The minimum number of candidates required for a Democratic candidate is 2,383.
On March 9, Carly Fiorina endorsed Ted Cruz, while Ben Carson endorsed Donald Trump.
