SPRINGFIELD – Lincoln Land Community College’s Student Life Office invites the public to a special Soup and Stories program entitled, “Tower of Refuge, Inc.” on Monday, Sept. 15. The event begins at noon in the Robert H. Stephens Room of Menard Hall on theLLCC-Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.
The featured presenter for the program is Bevey Louden, the co-founder and assistant director of the Tower of Refuge, Inc. in Springfield. Tower of Refuge is a community-based nonprofit corporation supporting, assisting and equipping the incarcerated and the formerly incarcerated for successful re-entry into society to become and remain healthy, productive citizens in the community, while reconciling family relationships and protecting the integrity of neighborhoods.
Louden will share her experiences working in a grassroots organization whose primary purpose was to reduce the rate of recidivism through various programs and community efforts throughout Illinois.
The event includes a light lunch of soup and salad.
