SPRINGFIELD – The Lincoln Land Community College Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) will hold its annual kickoff event Thursday, July 24 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut St. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with a brief program at 10 a.m., followed by refreshments.
The public is invited, including anyone interested in becoming a member.
Visitors are encouraged to gather information on the many opportunities and activities open to ALL members. The Membership Committee will have a table to sign up new members, take renewals and answer membership questions.
Leaders of various interest groups within ALL will have displays with details on upcoming activities for the year.
The Academy of Lifelong Learning offers educational adventures to anyone 50 and older. Classes and activities are planned and presented by members who enjoy meeting interesting friends, sharing ideas, exploring topics of interest, learning from one another and having fun.
ALL members enjoy unlimited attendance at their choice of activities, including:
- Lecture and discussion programs – one-time lectures or brief series on current events, history, politics, international cultures, art, literature, theatre, music and more.
- Interest groups – book lovers, writers, game players, golfers and bikers.
Nominal fees are charged for popular programs including:
- Breakfast Roundtable – A monthly presentation of local interest led by a guest speaker while members enjoy breakfast.
- Wander on Wednesday – Members share a learning experience monthly by visiting museums, theaters or historic sites throughout Illinois and neighboring states.
