SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College’s men’s basketball coach Chad Jones knew his the Loggers had a big advantage against Prairie State. The Chicago Heights team had only five players, compared to LLCC’s 14.

Prairie State sophomore guard Rodney Smith, who played 40 minutes, had a team-high 14 points. He also had five rebounds and five assists.
The Pioneers played the last five minutes of the game with only four players. They scored 13 points in the second half, while the Loggers scoring 47.
Jones said he told his team to put more pressure on Prairie State in the latter half of the game. Prairie State committed eight of its 12 turnovers in the second half.
The Pioneers led by 4 at half. They had a team-high 7-point lead with about four minutes remaining in the first half.
This was this was the fewest points Prairie State has scored all season, as the team now has a nine-game losing streak.
Lincoln Land moves to 10-3 in the season. Its next game will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, in the Cass Gym.
