SPRINGFIELD — Coach Gary Albert called a timeout with about 13 minutes left in the game. Lindenwood University-Belleville was on a 13-7 run, and it was time for Albert to make some adjustments.
“We were out of sync,” Albert said of the women’s basketball team. “We needed to calm down.”
And LLCC did just that.
The Loggers went on a 20-6 run after that timeout, capping a 66-51 win over the Lynx on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
“It took us a little while to get back into the game from tonight, after the two-week break,” Albert said. “I thought we got our second wind midway through the second half and really put the game away.”
Lindenwood shot 15.7 percent (3 for 19) in the game. (Box score)
Freshman guard Eloise Sneddon had a team-high 11 points for LLCC. Freshman forward Gretchen Hobbie led the team with a season-high 13 rebounds. Lincoln Land also tied its season-high for rebounds in a game (56).
Chanese Washington led the Lynx with 21 points. Jenna Patterson added 14.
The Loggers now have a three-game winning streak and moves to 8-9 in the season.
Their next game will be against MacMurray College’s junior varsity team at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in Jacksonville.
