SPRINGFIELD — A Lincoln Land alum gave the women’s basketball team its toughest competition, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Loggers from easily defeating MacMurray College’s JV team.
Melinda Wilson, who played on Lincoln Land’ssoftball team in 2012 and 2013, scored a team-high 12 points for the Highlanders. However, they scored only 37 points in the entire game.
Lincoln Land was led by its 25 steals and players Molly Sloman, Kelsey Forsythe, and Gretchen Hobbie to cap a 79-37 win over MacMurray College’s JV team.
Freshman post player Hobbie had 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the win for the Loggers. She entered this game averaging 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season.
LLCC sophomore guard Forsythe had four points, five assists and five steals. Sloman, a 5-foot-4 sophomore guard, added 22 points.

LLCC started the second half with only a six-point lead (32-26), but head coach Gary Albert said he made some adjustments during halftime.
“I told them to pick up the pressure,” he said. “I told them to exert more energy.”
The Loggers used their full-court defense on the MacMurray Highlanders for the entire game, though Lincoln Land grabbed 19 of its 25 steals in the second half.
MacMurray was limited to 11 points in the last half of the game, while shooting just 15.6 percent from the court.
Lincoln Land 47 points and shot 48.5 percent in the second half.
The Loggers are 4-4 this season.
